Spoilers in Post: No
Where: On Demand
Release Type: Theatrical
Plot: Deadpool. ‘Nuff said. (Ok, ok. Deadpool tries to save the day)
Scoring Notes: generally a +5 is the highest I will give a component. A -5 is the lowest. If it goes beyond that, then you know I am quite serious
+10 for Ryan Reynolds. Of course. Cause the dude was meant to play Deadpool
+5 for Morena Baccarin
+5 for Josh Brolin
+7 for Fred Savage
+5 for all the cameos.
Production (Writing/Directing/Soundtrack, etc…)
+10 for some of the wittiest writing around.
+5 for the perfect soundtrack
+5 for awesome direction.
+1 for family friendliness. Yeah, I’m actually claiming somewhat family friendliness. For those not in the know – Deadpool is generally NOT family friendly. In fact, I watched the first one with my hands over my face and with a lot of fast forwarding. The fact that they came out with a PG-13 version of it is sublime. Here they hilariously parody The Princess Bride to take out all the Rated R parts. There’s still a lot of humor that many parents would find objectionable for their younger children.
+10 would watch again. I’m gonna have to buy this.
+10 because I’m pretty sure neighbors heard me laughing. But please note that I love gallows humor. It’s not for everyone.
+10 for.so.many.quotes. I’ll leave you with my favorite:
“We all saw the first movie”
“I didn’t. I kinda prefer Marvel movies.”
“We are Marvel.”
“Yeah, but you’re Marvel licensed by Fox. You know, its like if the Beatles were produced by Nickleback.”
+3 for the mid and end credit scenes.
And yes, if you’ve seen the full cut of Deadpool 2 it is worth watching this version. I’m sure of it.
